  • Prof. Michael K Koech Is an Associate Professor in the Department of Environmental Education, School of Environmental Studies at Kenyatta University. His teaching concentrations include: Environmental Education, Education for Sustainable Development, Ecology, Climate Change and Environmental Impact Assessment and Audit.

    Prof. Koech has vast experience stemming from his work as Dean of School of Environmental Studies, Kenyatta University, Deputy Vice Chancellor (Finance & Planning) at Kenyatta University, Ambassador/Permanent Representative to the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and Founding Director General, Kenya National Environment Management Authority.


    His major accomplishments at NEMA include successful completion of the First 3 year Strategic Plan of NEMA, successful completion of the First Budget (450 million) for the Authority, launching of the Provincial and District Environmental Committees, gazettment and operationalization of EIA/Environmental Audits Regulations, establishment of relevant organs of the Authority e.g. EIA Technical Advisory Committee and Environmental Tribunal Court facilities at the Authority, initiation of Environmental Action Plan Process, instituting the Committee to deliberate the phasing out of leaded gasoline in Kenya, issuing the EIA license to the Tiomin Kenya Inc. to mine tiomin in Kwale, completion of several MOU’s with partners of NEMA, establishment of key Departments within NEMA, personnel and grading systems of staff, and staff integration from various defunct Departments.


    Prof. Koechholds BA in Biology/Ecology and Environmental Studies from Lake Forest College, Chicago, Illinois, U.S.A, M.Ed. in Educational Planning, Management and Administration and Ed.D in Science/Environmental Studies and Curriculum Development from University of Massachusetts, U.S.A.

    Prof. is an Environmental Manager, Writer, Researcher, Environmental Policy Analyst and Environmental Educator.

  • Dr.Felix Lamech Ming’ate Mogambi Is a Lecturer at Kenyatta University (School of Environmental Studies).
